About the view

Miraflores Coastal Park Skyline

The view opens from within Miraflores Coastal Park in Lima, looking inland across a sweep of deep emerald lawn where a winding ribbon of crimson flowers curves through the green like a slow river of red. A tall palm anchors the right edge of the composition, its feathered crown catching the last warmth of a fading sky. Beyond the cliffs and their rust-colored faces, a graceful bridge arcs toward the mid-ground, and above everything rises a skyline of pale towers bathed in lavender and rose, glowing softly against a sky that has already given itself over to dusk. The whole scene dissolves upward into layers of pink, lilac, and powder blue — a palette that feels at once calm and quietly electric.

The history & when to go

Miraflores Coastal Park, the string of cliff-top green spaces along the Malecón, was developed over many decades as the Miraflores district grew into one of Lima's most prominent residential and cultural neighborhoods. The parks are maintained by the district municipality and have long served as a gathering place for residents, sitting at the dramatic edge where the city's flat plateau drops sharply toward the Pacific. That cliff edge, eroded over millennia, gives the park its distinctive layered silhouette and its sweeping views over the coast below.

The pink-and-lavender sky seen here is truest around sunset, when Lima's coastal mist softens the light into something almost dreamlike.

Behind the Passport

Explore the world, one canvas at a time.

Hi, I'm Nathan. I grew up in Ohio dreaming about the places on the map I hadn't seen yet, so I started The Painted Passport to turn real photos of those places into watercolor canvas prints. There are 570+ destinations so far, with new ones added every week.

I hope a little piece of Lima finds a home on your wall.
