Why The Painted Passport

Travel wall art that sits between the big-box canvas and the gallery wall.

There are plenty of ways to put art on a wall. Here’s an honest look at how we compare, including where the others come out ahead, so you can choose the one that fits.

Where the others come out ahead

Big-box canvas sites

Lower prices, constant sales, and the widest range of subjects. Great when you need a lot of wall covered on a budget.

Etsy print shops

Endless variety and the chance to buy straight from an individual artist, sometimes a handmade original.

Fine-art gallery

A one-of-a-kind original you can see in person before you buy. Nothing replaces that.

Common questions

Is The Painted Passport legit?

Yes. It’s an independent studio based in Columbus, Ohio, run by founder Nathan. Every canvas ships free in the U.S. with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you can see photos of our pieces hanging in customers’ homes on the homepage. Questions go straight to support@paintedpassport.art, and Nathan answers them himself.

Are these hand-painted originals?

No. Each piece starts from a real viewpoint in the destination and is designed into a watercolor style, then printed to order on museum-grade canvas. If you want a one-of-a-kind original, a gallery is the better choice.

Where are the canvases printed?

In the USA. Every canvas is printed and stretched to order on a pine frame, takes 2–3 business days to make, and arrives ready to hang.

How is this different from Etsy or big canvas sites?

Those sites cover every subject from thousands of sellers, so styles vary from piece to piece. The Painted Passport only does travel: 1,700+ real destinations in one consistent watercolor style, so pieces from different cities look right together on one wall.

What sizes are available?

Five canvas sizes, from 10″ × 8″ (from $65) up to 48″ × 32″. Each product page shows every size to scale above a sofa, and a floating frame is available as an upgrade.

Can I request a place that isn’t in the collection?

Yes. Send the place through the contact page or email, and it may be one of the next destinations added.

I started The Painted Passport because a photo on your phone never quite holds a place the way a piece on your wall does. You’re not buying from a warehouse. You’re buying from one person in Columbus who reads every message and wants the piece to feel right in your home.
