A country shaped like a brushstroke running the length of a continent, Chile compresses an almost unreasonable range of landscapes into a single long spine — the bone-dry Atacama in the north, its salt flats cracked into geometric patterns, and the dripping, wind-torn channels of Patagonia far to the south. The light changes character entirely depending on latitude, from the fierce bleached clarity of the desert to the pewter skies and sudden rainbows of the far south.
