About the view

Flower Dome Interior Conservatory

A sunlit path winds through the heart of the Flower Dome in Singapore, framed on either side by gnarled, thick-trunked trees whose canopies spread in loose, layered clouds of green. To the left, cascading clusters of vivid magenta bloom like a curtain against the warm bark. At ground level, ribbons of coral, orange, and deep pink flowers line the walkway in soft, saturated bands. Above it all, the great curved lattice of the conservatory's canopy arches overhead in pale blue-white geometry, flooding the interior with diffuse daylight that falls in long diagonal shadows across the warm-toned path. The composition draws the eye deep into the scene, where the dome's columns recede into a bright, hazy distance and a tall city silhouette just barely appears through the glass.

The history & when to go

The Flower Dome is one of two conservatories that anchor Gardens by the Bay, which opened in 2012 on reclaimed land along Singapore's Marina Bay waterfront. It holds the record as the world's largest glass greenhouse, a title it has held since 2015. The dome maintains a cool, dry climate that supports plants from Mediterranean-style regions around the world, allowing Singapore to host floral landscapes that would otherwise be impossible in the equatorial heat outside.

The interior blooms through a rotating series of floral displays that change throughout the year, so no two visits are quite the same.

Behind the Passport

Explore the world, one canvas at a time.

Hi, I'm Nathan. I grew up in Ohio dreaming about the places on the map I hadn't seen yet, so I started The Painted Passport to turn real photos of those places into watercolor canvas prints. There are 570+ destinations so far, with new ones added every week.

I hope a little piece of Gardens by the Bay finds a home on your wall.
