About the view

Busan Tower Cherry Blossoms

Busan Tower rises through the center of the scene like a pale column of light, its distinctive observation crown catching the last warm glow of a sunset sky streaked in coral, lavender, and soft gold. The view looks straight up a broad pedestrian path, with tall blossoming trees arching inward from both sides, their branches heavy with clouds of pale pink and white that seem to dissolve into the luminous sky above. A low traditional pavilion with a deep blue-green curved roof anchors the middle ground, its compact silhouette grounding the composition between the organic softness of the blossoms and the tower's clean vertical rise. The overall palette is tender and almost dreamlike — dusty rose, ash blue, and ivory — lit as though the whole park exhales at dusk.

The history & when to go

Busan Tower stands in Yongdusan Park and has been a symbol of the city since it opened in 1973. Rising to 120 meters, it houses an observation deck that looks out over Busan's harbor, the surrounding hills, and the sprawling urban landscape below. The tower was designed as a civic landmark for a city that had grown rapidly through the mid-twentieth century, and it remains one of the most recognized silhouettes on the Busan skyline.

Cherry blossom season in Busan typically peaks in late March to early April, when the park paths are at their most spectacular and the evening light turns the whole hillside pink.

Behind the Passport

Explore the world, one canvas at a time.

Hi, I'm Nathan. I grew up in Ohio dreaming about the places on the map I hadn't seen yet, so I started The Painted Passport to turn real photos of those places into watercolor canvas prints. There are 570+ destinations so far, with new ones added every week.

I hope a little piece of Busan finds a home on your wall.
