A thousand hills ripple across Rwanda's landscape in every shade of green that watercolour can hold, terraced farms clinging to slopes that dissolve into mist before the eye can follow them to the ridge. The light here is soft and diffuse, filtered through equatorial cloud, giving the whole country the quality of a painting already in progress.
