About the view

Lotte Tower Han River Cherry Blossoms

Lotte Tower rises like a needle of pale silver through a curtain of blossoms, its tapered silhouette caught in that particular hush between dawn and full morning when the sky settles into soft gradients of blush and ice blue. The view looks across the still water of the Han River in Seoul, the tower's reflection pulling downward in long wavering bands of cool light and warm gold. Clusters of open blossoms crowd the foreground from both sides, their deep rose petals and dark branching arms framing the composition like a natural arch. The surrounding skyline sits low and quiet behind the tower, and everything — city, sky, blossoms — doubles in the glassy surface below.

The history & when to go

Lotte World Tower, completed in 2017, stands at 555 meters and is one of the tallest buildings in the world. It anchors the Songpa district near the Han River, and its crystalline tapering form was designed to evoke the gentle curves of traditional Korean celadon pottery and calligraphy brushstrokes. The tower houses observation decks, a hotel, and cultural spaces, and has become a defining landmark of modern Seoul.

Spring arrives along the Han River in earnest from late March through mid-April, when the blossoms reach their peak and the early morning light is at its softest and most rose-tinted.

Each spring, Seoul's Han River glows soft pink as cherry blossoms frame the soaring glass spire rising from the eastern skyline at dusk. This watercolor canvas captures that fleeting season in blush, lavender, and silver, with the tower and its mirror reflection wrapped in quiet wonder.

Behind the Passport

Explore the world, one canvas at a time.

Hi, I'm Nathan. I grew up in Ohio dreaming about the places on the map I hadn't seen yet, so I started The Painted Passport to turn real photos of those places into watercolor canvas prints. There are 570+ destinations so far, with new ones added every week.

I hope a little piece of Seoul finds a home on your wall.
