Agate Beach Stormy Headland

A sharp-edged headland rises from the left side of the scene, its dark silhouette pressing against a sky that is splitting open between storm and last light. The view looks north along Agate Beach, where a long curve of warm amber sand meets slow, foam-edged surf rolling in from open water. Scattered rocks and a pale tangle of driftwood anchor the foreground, their weathered forms catching the same burnished gold that bleeds through the cloud break on the horizon. To the right, the Pacific stretches into deepening grey-blue, while overhead, heavy storm clouds swirl and billow, lit from behind in molten copper and ochre. The contrast between that fierce, luminous sky and the quiet solidity of the headland gives the whole scene an almost held-breath tension.
