The Pyramids of Giza rise from the golden plateau just west of Cairo, an eternal testament to the ambition and ingenuity of ancient Egypt. For more than four and a half millennia, the great pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure have stood watch over the desert alongside the enigmatic Great Sphinx, their limestone faces catching fire at sunrise and dissolving into deep amber at dusk. To stand at their base is to feel the scale of time itself — the only one of the seven ancient wonders to survive, still anchoring the edge of a living, breathing modern city.
