Iguazu Falls, Argentina | 'Where the River Chose to Fall'
There is nowhere quite like Iguazu. Straddling the border between Argentina and Brazil deep in the subtropical northeast, this is a place that operates on a scale your eyes take a moment to accept. Nearly 275 individual cataracts stretch across nearly three kilometres of basalt cliff, roaring through a canopy so green it seems almost invented. The Guarani people, who have lived alongside these waters for centuries, named the falls 'Iguazu' meaning 'great water,' and the humility of that phrase only adds to the wonder. Mist drifts through the jungle like a second weather system, catching the light and throwing small rainbows across the walking trails at every turn.
The palette here is one of pure, saturated nature. Deep viridian and moss greens press in from the forest on all sides, while the water itself shifts between a milky jade and a churning copper-brown depending on the season and the angle of the sun. Warm terracotta earth tones anchor the scene beneath your feet, and the persistent mist softens every edge into watercolour wash, blurring hard lines into something painterly and atmospheric.
