BEIRUT, LEBANON | “The Paris of the Middle East”

Beirut is the most complex and most resilient city in the Arab world — a Mediterranean capital where Phoenician ruins, Ottoman architecture, French Mandate buildings, and contemporary towers exist in the same city block, and where the Pigeon Rocks rise from the turquoise sea at the end of the Corniche like a permanent natural monument to the city’s refusal to be ordinary. Damaged and rebuilt, divided and reunited, overwhelmed and defiant — Beirut has survived a civil war, multiple conflicts, economic collapse, and the catastrophic August 2020 port explosion and has come back each time with the same specific quality of life: the best food in the Arab world, the most vibrant nightlife, the deepest literary culture, and an architectural layering that makes every street a compressed history of the Levant.

The colors are warm and Mediterranean: terracotta, cream limestone, the turquoise of the sea below the Pigeon Rocks at midday, and the amber of the Corniche at golden hour. This artwork captures the beauty of a city that always comes back.

Sunlight filters beautifully through a lush canopy of green leaves and palm trees, illuminating a charming stone staircase that winds its way upward. Framed by rustic, sun-warmed stone walls and overflowing ivy, this enchanting alleyway leads the eye toward a quaint teal door nestled at the top. It feels like a peaceful, hidden sanctuary frozen in time, inviting you to slow down, take a deep breath, and explore where the steps might lead.
