It is Australia's second-oldest city, yet it feels startlingly alive, with a creative energy that punches well above its modest size. The waterfront at Salamanca hums on Saturday mornings, the old jam-factory warehouses now housing galleries and restaurants where fishermen and artists share the same barstools.
