Crete, Greece | Where myth meets the Mediterranean and every stone holds a story
Crete is the great island of Greek mythology and Mediterranean light, a place where the Minoan civilization rose and flourished thousands of years before the classical world took shape. It stretches across the southern Aegean like a world unto itself, with snowcapped mountain ranges plunging into gorges that empty onto beaches of pink and white sand. The light here is extraordinary, arriving gold in the morning and turning deep amber by late afternoon, catching the honey-colored walls of Venetian harbors and ancient ruins with equal warmth. This is an island that carries layers, Minoan palaces beneath Byzantine churches beneath Ottoman fountains beneath Venetian fortresses, all woven together in a landscape that feels both ancient and completely alive.
A watercolor palette for Crete borrows heavily from the sea and the earth that frame it.
