The Himalaya hang above everything here — an almost implausible wall of ice and rock that appears without warning above the foothills, catching early light long before the valleys wake. Below the snowline, terraced rice fields step down in luminous green curves, prayer flags fade to watercolour softness in the wind, and the whole country feels suspended between earth and something considerably higher.
